New Music Picks - Spring 2025
Here’s 10 new releases we’ve had an eye on here at The Pool HQ over this month. A mixed bag of Balearic beat, downtempo, house, reissues, edits, remixes and originals for home listening and the club. The first of what will hopefully become a monthly series of new music.

Freedom Spirit - Pleasure Voyage
Billed as “a sonic journey into the essence of Balearic Beat”, this 6 track EP from the Budapest based DJ and Producer duo certainly doesn’t disappoint.
Ambient landscapes, hypnotic downtempo, and immersive grooves wash over one another like sun, sea, and warm rocks on the beach. One for the sunset crew!

Sasha Foam - Ilha Espacial Remixes
Playful, cheeky, sleazy downtempo club cuts perfect for getting heads nodding and feet moving at early doors. A remix of Sasha Foam’s Ilha Especial EP from November 2024, from the likes of X.Y.R., Personal System 個人システム, GFH, Dj Cat, Arsenii, and Hysteric rework the groovy baselines and playful samples into fresh sounding cosmic synthscapes.

Neon Whispers feat. Meora - A Vision Of Panorama
Woefully underhyped and under the radar downtempo balearica-sleaze from the wonderful A Vision of Panorama.
A beautiful combination of laid back vocals, synths, and infectious drum pattern grooves place this squarely in our Balearic bins.

Saved My Life EP - Andre Zimmer
Euphoric 90s revival rave sound from the Toronto based Andre Zimmer. A well balanced “contemporary fusion of tech house, trance, and progressive house”, that’s instantly satisfying and leaves you wanting more.

Archipelago : Cosmic Fusion Gems from France (1978-1988) - Isle Of Jura
Isle of Jura continue their noble voyage into the uncharted waters of obscure European cosmica with a compilation of overlooked disco, dub, cosmica, soft rock, and (no doubt) many more put together by DJ Arnaud Simetiére aka Switch Groove.
“These records shaped a new map of French music for me,” explains Switch Groove. “They’re treasures that emerged not from the mainstream, but from the crates—lost in plain sight, waiting to be found.” Archipelago is an invitation to explore that map: a crate-digger’s dreamscape of fusion, funk, and far-out frequencies from 1978 to 1988. The album also includes two Ambient soundscape tools.”

Hieroglyphic Being - Dance Music 4 Bad People
The Chicago dance music titans release 8 tracks of suitably wonky, leftfield club cuts via Smalltown Supersound. Dance Music 4 Bad People could just as easily be ‘4 Mad People’, as Jamal Moss says…
“I’ve been partying since 1984 … 40 years later, it’s drastically different - everybody’s angry! … I have yet to walk into a club and see everybody hug and say: Let’s forgive each other, let’s move forward and make the world a better place … With all these conversations about sexuality, ethnicity, politics, whatever, when you walk into an environment with the music, you are supposed to celebrate all of that. Let it be and come together.”
A reminder that Love is (Still) The Message for the post-jilted generation subsumed within the greasy mechanisms of tik-tok-techno.

Cosmic funky space chug? You’ll have to take our word on this one - three huge edit disco-dub-cosmic space jams with enough weirdness and funk flexing to keep a floor suitably loose. Grab the vinyl before it sells out!

LOST PROPERTY 08 by PBR Streetgang
Another solid release from the UK disco institution PBR Streetgang. Three beautifully wonky and super danceable cuts clearly showing the duo’s instinctive intuition for what the dancefloor wants. “Cosmic transcendence” as suitably at home in the darkroom as in the main room.

Peak club tinged electro-house pump that already sounds vaguely familiar due to the amount of playtime from big names like Eris Drew, Roza Terenzi, Wallace, Cinthie, La Fleur, Archie Hamilton, Byron Yeates, Harrison BDP, Voigtmann, SUCHI, Ste Roberts, Job Jobse etc etc…
