“A loop is a section of recorded music that can repeat indefinitely, the end joining seamlessly to the beginning so the music becomes a never ending sonic cycle. Originally a tape loop.”
Maurice Fulton tops the bill at Corsica Studios this Saturday for Beyond The Clouds. Looks like a belter, and I feel a Pool office outing on the cards…
Was reading the ever dependable DJ History Furtive 50 – Best of 2011 feature on the plane home, and nice to see some great tracks being recognised in there.
Soft Rocks’s amazing Buffalo shuffler, Maurice Fulton as Boof, Rub ‘n’ Tug with Scanners, Harvey’s conquering Locussolus project & Todd Terje all feature in the rundown, with Terje claiming the top spot for his Running Back EP. You can read a brief interview with Todd also at DJH (Reminds me i should really get a photo credit for that ‘tache/sunset shot)
In fact Terje seems to be pretty much taking over the world right now, With Ragysh being voted Number 1 record of the year by both DJ History & London’s Phonica Records. In addition Resident Advisor have both ‘Snooze for Love’ & ‘Ragysh’ inside their top five of last year! ‘Snooze’ also features in Pitchfork.com’s list.
If that’s not enough and you’ve been living under a rock for the last few months Terje’s new “Its the Arps” EP is out in the wild. Expect to see this in all the best of 2012 charts come December…
Also there’s this: Terje’s remix of Bjorn Torske finally sees the light of day with additional mixes coming from DJ Harvey: Oppkok EP
Lots going on in the south west this weekend… up in the Malvern Hills The Big Chill is once more ready to go… and some Bristol heat as well for those more inclined to stay in the city.
Friday Night sees Stevie Kotey doing the big bear thing & for Sunday closing up its Justin Unabomber – both on the Southern Comfort Juke Joint Stage. Go See.
Bill Brewster plays the inaugural ‘Big Chill Radio Stage’ on Friday, with The Pool’s own Matty J & Sheffield’s finest Maurice Fulton dropping by on Sunday.
Down the road, Reggae party starters Trojan Soundsystem are starting the bus in Bristol:
and a little plug for The Pool’s Rob Needham, who’s Dirtytalk party is going from strength to strength, and continues with another ace lineup this Saturday, also in Bristol.
