The Pool have played a vital part in the development of the event since first involvement in 2007; Pool residents Matty J & Ben Terry annually host The Pool boat party; an audio orgy taking in the beautiful adriatic scenery. The onshore stages regularly feature world class acts from the Pool roster. Greg Wilson an early supporter of the event, has become a regular fixture, closing the mainstage. And this summer Greg Wilson, Eric Duncan and Cosmo have taken prime positions on the line-up in closing main-stage slots.

For the summer 2008 Festival season The Pool programmed the Havana Club stages at four of the UK’s major Festivals: Isle Of Wight, Big Chill, Rockness and Bestival. Taking in a loosely ‘Balearic’ music policy that gave the Mojito cocktail bars a perfect summer time party vibe and allowed us musically to go down various different paths. The Pool initiated syndication with the on-site Festival radio for added publicity for the brand.

EXAMPLE OF PROGRAMME: Rub N Tug, Soft Rocks, Bill Brewster, Lowlife, Red Rackem, Futureboogie, Futuredisco, Tirk, Secret Sundaze and others.

‘A London vocalist resuscitates vintage disco and earns her diva stripes.’ Prefix Kathy Diamond is a singer/songwriter, who lives in Brighton – originally from Sheffield in the north of England. Her love for soul and disco started at an early age, dancing around the living room to Donna Summer with her mum – the singing came later. As a child she was always imaginative and loved to write poetry, dress-up, and perform, which became great practice for her later career. In the early 90s Kathy decided to write songs and sing them herself, working with different bands, DJs and producers along the way. In 2002 Kathy wrote a song with house producers SWAG called’ Miracles just might’ – a laidback Balearic classic. Originally to be included on their album, however circumstances changed so Kathy decided to release the song herself. Kathy pressed up a limited amount of white labels, and distributed it, which was quite a task. The track received great reviews – DJ Magazine said: “If you like sweet beauty in your house music keep your eyes peeled because it’s only going to get a limited release”. Within a month another 12? was released, this time on the Cottage label (Idjut Boys) with the legendary producer Maurice Fulton. The track called ‘Sunshine’ received huge plaudits from the music media, and started a magical collaboration. In 2007 Kathy’s debut album’ MISS DIAMOND TO YOU’ with Maurice Fulton on production was received globally with open arms, the reviews were the best yet, from XLR8R, Pitchfork, The Village Voice and The New York Sun, to name but a few. After spending 2007 performing the album live around Europe and the UK, Kathy is now looking forward to another busy year. The first half will see releases with Toby Tobias-’The Feeling’ (REKIDS), Lo-Motion Disco -’Love, Love, Love’ – Soft Rocks Feat Kathy Diamond Remix (Eskimo Records), Aeroplane Feat Kathy Diamond-’Whispers’(Eskimo Records), Maxi Skiba Feat Kathy Diamond -’Never stop believing’, Codebreaker Feat Kathy Diamond -’Fire’, plus a special edition 12? with Soft Rocks. Later in the year will see the release of Kathy’s second album, another collection of real song based tracks coming together with co-writer/guitarist Keeling Lee (ex Groove Armada), and using some of the top disco and house producers on the planet. Watch this space.

During the night time The Pool programmes the Tirk Records showcase; a highly energetic affair featuring the cream of the modern dance world making this one of the clubbing highlights of the festival.

The Pool were asked to programme ‘The Guardian Lounge’ at Glastonbury Festival for three consecutive years. Located just behind the Pyramid Stage in a prime location, we worked to bring together a mix of bands and DJs to fit with the newspapers readership. Booking a mixture of cutting edge acts alongside some classic acts that were already playing on the bigger stages at the event. The tent had a ‘lounge’ feel so we focused on Acoustic styles during the day and then slowly increased the atmosphere with more electric bands and up-tempo DJs as the day wore on. We also ran the artist liaison and developed the VIP bar backstage for many of the acts playing (The Wombats, The Enemy & The Maccabees) who felt it to be some of the best hospitality of the whole event. The greatest accolade was The Arctic Monkeys agent telling us we had the best-programmed tent of the whole Festival.

EXAMPLE OF PROGRAMME: Adele, Neil Diamond, Will Young, The Wombats, The Maccabees, The Enemy, Mr Scruff, Crazy P, New Young Pony Club.

The Pool has worked with ITCH Agency on various Virgin Media related projects over the years. Virgin Mobile Red Light Bars at V Festival was the first, programming a line-up that straddled dance music but in a more commercially viable way that suited the V Festival crowds. Groove Armada and The Scissor Sisters DJ sets where two of many names that set the tent off. More recently The Pool were involved in booking judges for the Road to V competition helping select The Charlatans and Just Jack for the roles of mentors to the young bands. Closing with a big final show at Brighton’s Great Escape Festival. This summer The Pool worked with ITCH on the Virgin Mobile House alongside acts such as Ellie Golding and The Noisettes.

EXAMPLE OF PROGRAMME: Groove Armada, The Scissor Sisters, The Charlatans, Just Jack, David Holmes, Ellie Golding and Paloma Faith.
